Facts about acne and how to fight it
The science behind those pesky pimples
Acne is a skin disease that occurs when hair follicles of the skin become blocked. Hair follicles connect the oil glands under the skin to the pores. The oil glands produce sebum. Sebum is an oily substance that carries dead skin skin cells to the surface of the skin through the follicles. Basically when these follicles get blocked it results in an accumulation of oil under the skin. This causes acne.
10 easy steps in fighting acne
1. Wash your face twice a day. This maybe be an obvious step but it is really important to wash the excess oil and dead skin cells of your beautiful face. It's important to wash with warm water first. Warm water will open your pores to get a proper clean. Then wash with cold as cold water causes the pores to close.
2. Always take your makeup off before you go asleep. I struggle with this step a lot. It's a key step as the makeup will just clog your pores while you sleep.
3. DONT use makeup wipes. I REPEAT
Makeup wipes cause excess oil to build up and your skin will suffer. Instead use something like a beauty balm. I use the clinique take the day off beauty balm and its amazing. It rinses off completely ! and isn't greasy.
P.s a cheaper option is coconut oil. It is used by so many bloggers to take their makeup off.
4. Change your pillowcases regularly. This causes less bacteria to grow on your skin while you sleep. Bacteria will cause the pores to get infected.
5. Skincare is ESSENTIAL in the fight against acne. After having acne for a while now I've tried many products. My all time favourite is the 3 Step method by Clinique. The anti blemish range they have is amazing. I use these products every day. The anti blemish cleanser , toner and moisturiser control and prevent acne on your face.
6. Makeup. The makeup you where should really reflect your skin type. DONT wear foundation that is oil based. Avoid any oil based makeup. A really good foundation that I use is the Mac studio fix foundation. It has an oil controlling formula good for acne prone skin. What I love about it is the coverage. It lasts longer on my face than any other foundation I have used.
I really hope these steps help for anyone who struggles with blemishes. These steps prevent me from getting more spots and achieve better skin.

Product review
Clinique anti-blemish range
I've decided as a part of my blog I will do a series of product reviews to make sure people make the most out of their money. I think we've all been there when we see a product on the market and are unsure whether to try it or not. I've spent money on products that have been a total failure and wish I hadn't of wasted my money.
For my first product review I will be reviewing the Clinique anti-blemish range. Lately I've had such bad breakouts and would describe my skin as acne prone. I was looking for products that would keep breakouts to a minimum and add moisture to my skin. I found with most spot treating products my skin would end up drying out.
After reading about Clinique I decided to buy the cleansing foam and moisturiser.
I love these products. After using the cleanser my face feels so clean and refreshed. Dead skin cells where washed away. I then used the moisturiser. I was so surprised as my skin was soft and not dry in the areas it usually is. I would recommend these products to anyone who suffers from acne and the occasional breakouts.
I went to the Clinique in Arnotts where I received a free gift for buying two products. It was a makeup bag filled with little treats such as eyeliner, lip gloss, eyeshadow, mascara and a few skin care goodies. I also received a free mini gel cleanser perfect for travelling. I was very satisfied with the products and will be buying the toner and makeup remover as soon as pay day arrives.
Thanks for listening xoxo.
